Accountants are the backbone of accurate and high-quality financial statements, reinforcing confidence in our capital markets. In this webinar, the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council (AFRC) will highlight current issues affecting the quality of financial reporting and auditing by sharing findings and case studies, and providing actionable recommendations for management and auditors. These insights will shed light on the threats to financial reporting and auditing quality and offer strategies to address them. This will ultimately benefit Hong Kong’s capital markets and reinforce the city’s status as an international financial centre.

Ms Janey Lai, CEO, AFRC

Ms Lai is the CEO and Executive Director of the AFRC, with rich experience in both the local and Mainland accounting professions and international regulatory and compliance landscape.  With decades of experience across Mainland China and Hong Kong, she focuses on auditing, talent development and transformation.  Before joining the AFRC, she was a Partner of two leading international accounting firms for over 17 years.  She has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney and is a fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and CPA Australia. 

Ms Tracy Chan, Director of Policy, Registration and Oversight, AFRC

Tracy is a Director of Policy, Registration, and Oversight of the AFRC, taking the lead in policy and governance projects, and being responsible for oversight of the specified functions carried out by HKICPA. As a project lead, she conducts policy research and develops guidance that promotes best practices on audit quality and governance. Tracy is a Certified Public Accountant and has extensive professional experience in providing assurance, regulatory and advisory services to a number of international financial institutions in Hong Kong, London, and Sydney.
