This seminar is designed for CPAs in their 30s and early 40s.
During the course of our career, we progress to take higher positions, assuming broader responsibilities, dealing with more complex issues and difficult decisions. At the same time, we need to take care our families, personal finance and household matters, and our own health. We constantly feel that our time and energy are never enough to deal with so many demands. How do we deal with these pressures? What are essential or helpful to allow us to meet these multiple, and sometimes conflicting, objectives?
In this seminar, fellow CPAs who have gone through these challenges will share their personal experience and learnings, with focus on these topics:

Mr. Edward Yuen, founder and director of ADF, is currently a private investor after a professional career in regional finance and accounting of over 25 years including as the Controller of Morgan Stanley Asia, Area Finance Director of Pepsi-cola International and CFO of Hsin Chong Construction Group. He is a member of HKICPA and SCAA and received his M.B.A. from University of California, Berkeley and M.Sc. from University of Science & Technology.
Mrs. Betty Yuen has been Vice Chairman of CLP Power Hong Kong Ltd since 2010, with a primary focus on the strategic direction of the Group’s electricity business in Hong Kong and Mainland China. Prior to that, she was the Managing Director of CLP Power Hong Kong Ltd Hong Kong business. She is a member of HKICPA and received her B.Comm. from University of Toronto.
Mr. Alec Tong is a Chartered Accountant qualified with KPMG in London and is currently involved in private equity investments. He has been the Group Finance Director of Dairy Farm, Jardine Pacific and Zung Fu covering business operations in many Asian countries, and the Group Treasurer of Jardine Matheson. Mr. Tong is a member of the Qualification and Examinations Board, Professional Accountants in Business Committee and Professional Development Committee of HKICPA. He is also an Adjunct Professor at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
About the Panelists:
Mr. Webster Ng, director of ADF, the proprietor and founder of Webster Ng & Co., is a fellow Certified Public Accountant (Practising). He is currently the Vice-President of the Taxation Institute of Hong Kong (TIHK) and President of Hong Kong Institute of Accredited Accounting Technicians Limited (HKIAAT), as well as the Council Member of The Society of Chinese Accountants and Auditors (SCAA). Mr. Ng is member of Taxation Policy Committee of TIHK and has been awarded as Honorary Council member of the China Certified Tax Agents Association (CCTAA).
Mr. Jacky Lai is an Assurance Partner of Ernst & Young. He has extensive experience in providing professional services to clients from different markets and in a wide range of industries, including retail and consumer products, food and beverage, environmental energy, entertainment, construction, and manufacturing. He is also experienced in IPOs, including advising on cross border listing as well as assisting state-owned enterprises with pre-IPO restructuring. Jacky is currently a member of Professional Development Committee, Professional Conduct Committee and CPA for NGOs program of the HKICPA.
Mr. Roy Leung, Partner, Head of Accounting Change Advisory, KPMG, has extensive experience in advising clients on GAAP conversion and the accounting and business implications of changes in accounting standards. He is a regular speaker on financial reporting, capital markets and corporate governance. He is a current member of the HKICPA Council, serving on the Professional Conduct Committee, Registration and Practicing Committee and the Professional Development Committee. He serves on the Departmental Advisory Committee of the Department of Accountancy of the City University of Hong Kong and the Accounting Advisory Board of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Ms. Yan Yeung is a Partner of PwC Hong Kong’s corporate tax practice. Yan has taken part in providing Hong Kong corporate tax compliance and advisory services, including regional corporate structuring, merger and acquisition, tax due diligence, tax investigation, tax accounting and IPO projects. She has acted as general regional tax coordinator for a number of these, and as regional coordinator for cross-border due diligence and corporate restructuring projects. She was assigned to work for the New York Office of PwC US for one year before, taking training on US tax accounting as well as international tax. Yan is currently the Chairman of the Young Members Committee of the HKICPA.
