About the Seminar:

Hong Kong Stock Exchange ("HKEx") issued the "Environmental, Social and Governance Report Guidelines" (known as "ESG guidelines") consultation paper in December 2011 and the relating consultation conclusion (the “Conclusion”) was released in 2012 August. The ESG guidelines are currently the recommended best practices where a listed company has an option to follow the disclosure requirements or not. However, HKEx also hinted in the Conclusion that the ESG Guidelines may become code provision for “Comply or Explain” someday.

At the moment, many of the listed companies in Hong Kong have early adopted the disclosure requirements under the ESG Guidelines and some companies even benchmark their disclosures with international standards.

ESG is not just a reporting task, no matter what story you would like to tell in the ESG report, this could not be done without the substance. In fact, listed companies may have some questions when preparing the reports such as: How to approach the stakeholders? What should be included in the ESG report? What is carbon footprint?

In this seminar, we will cover the following areas:

- An overview of the reporting process

- The ESG governance

- Stakeholders engagement

- Formulating ESG strategy and plan

- Measuring carbon footprint

- Concluding recap
