About the seminar:

This seminar will cover the nature of different intellectual properties that concern most businesses in Hong Kong, including trade marks, copyright, patents and registered designs. Mr. Cheung will explain not only their nature, but also how these rights can be protected and enforced in Hong Kong and PRC. From accountants’ perspective, an understanding of these rights could be important as quite often they would need to know how enforcement, or violation, of these rights could impact on the businesses of their clients. In addition, a basic understanding of the true nature of these rights may also help accountants to better interpret the figures of the valuation of these different intangible intellectual property rights.

About the speaker:

Before setting up the predecessor of Cheung & Choy in 2002, Mr. Simon Cheung gained substantial experience from the Hong Kong offices of two leading City of London law firms for a number of years. During his employment with these law firms, his scope of work covered not only corporate commercial law, but also covered the area in intellectual property laws. Simon’s experience in the areas of corporate financial matters covers both mergers and acquisitions matters, and initial public offering (“IPO”) projects. The clients Simon served included certain major household names and a number of companies whose shares are listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, and also other prominent local non-listed companies.
