Mastering Ethical Challenges and Prevention and Detection of Fraud by Accounting Professionals

Session 1: Where Professional Ethics Counts – Mastering Ethical Challenges Facing Accounting Professionals (by Ms. Anna Lam, HKEDC, ICAC)

Content:

1) Introduction

 - Importance of professional ethics and role of accountants

 - Current corruption trend in HK

2) The 3As strategy

(a) Alertness of corruption risks

 - Common corruption risk and malpractices encountered by accounting practitioners

(b) Awareness of legal and professional requirements

(c) Action – putting ethics in practice (case study)

 - Common ethical problems faced by young accountants

 - “Ethical decision making model” and practical tips to corruption prevention

3) Service of HKEDC and ICAC

Session 2: Consider the overall position of legal obligations and liabilities relating to the prevention and detection of fraud by an accounting professional (by Mr. C.K. Cho)

Content:

1) Practical and legal issues confronting an accounting professional in a fraud /corruption investigation, whether as the subject of an investigation or not

2) Recent court cases on Conspiracy to Defraud and Theft and how they will affect the effective investigation into incidents or allegations of fraud

Session 3: Q&As


Enrolment:

1) Those Interested are requested to register on-line by filling in the attached enrolment form. Acceptance will be on a first-come-first-served basis.

2) Successful enrolments will be confirmed by email. Unsuccessful applicants will be automatically placed on waiting list; they will be called up in the order of time of receipt of registration when vacancies arise.

3) Applicants may check their registration status using the same membership number of their professional affiliation when they register.

Payment:

1) After receiving our Confirmation, you can either pay cash or cheque for admission at location.

2) If pay by cash, please present the Confirmation with your cash payment when you attend the seminar.

3) If pay by cheque, please make cheque payable to Accounting Development Foundation Limited. Write down your name and Enrolment ID number on the back of the cheque and submit it with the Confirmation when you attend the seminar.
